Pathfinder Club
Hi, my name is Kimberly and my passion is working with KIDS! My day job is teaching computer to the 250 students at John Nevins Andrews School. But on the weekends, I’m a Ranger…a Takoma Park Ranger. The Rangers are an extraordinary group of youth, ages 10-15. The Rangers are a Pathfinder club, which is a co-ed, scout-like group that learns camping, survival, and life skills, both individually and collectively. Pathfinder clubs are found world-wide, in association with Seventh-day Adventist churches. We discover things about ourselves and our Creator through active exploration of nature and our environment, and earn honor patches that demonstrate our understanding. There are opportunities to serve both God and man through community service and outreach activities, such as collecting food and assembling Thanksgiving baskets, parades, fairs, camporees, and nursing home visitations. Pathfinders is about discipline, hard work, and having fun, all while developing leadership skills and relationships with peers and our friend, Jesus. Pathfindering is not just a hobby for me, it’s more of a lifestyle. I was born into Pathfinders; it’s all I’ve ever known. The memories, skills, and relationships I have developed in Pathfinders will stay with me forever. It’s not too late for you to experience Pathfinders first-hand. Working with thirty 5th-8th graders requires lots of manpower. If you’re ready for some fun, hard work, camping out, being a role model, and making a difference in the lives of young people, then come by the Keystone room in the church center on a Sunday morning and see what Pathfinders is all about!
